Dialysis Technician II – ICU & Peritoneal Support

About the role

As a Dialysis Technician II at Cleveland Clinic Health System, you will provide specialized support for Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) treatments for critically ill patients in the ICU and throughout the hospital. The role involves preparing dialysis solutions, maintaining equipment, and assisting with clinical research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and package dialysate solutions and baths for CRRT and PD.
• Set up and operate dialysis machines, attach treatments, and serve as a 24‑hour resource for ICU nurses.
• Perform bacteriological sampling, draw bio‑samples, and monitor the central water system.
• Clean, disinfect, and troubleshoot dialysis equipment and reusable jugs.
• Receive, stock, and manage dialysis supplies, including potassium dosing in acid concentrate jugs.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least two years of prior Intermittent Hemodialysis (IHD) experience.

Required skills

• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) modalities (CVVH, CVVHD, CVVHDF, SCUF, ECMO).
• Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) procedures.
• Dialysis solution preparation and equipment troubleshooting.
• Bio‑sample collection and central water system monitoring.
