Development Analyst - Affordable Housing

About the role

Fairstead is a real estate firm focused on affordable housing, owning and managing more than 30,000 apartments across 28 states. Its Development Analyst contributes to the Affordable Housing Development platform, covering both acquisitions and new construction across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Review weekly development financial information and update trackers such as development budget, pre-development budget and cash forecast
• Analyze general ledgers, accounts payable, rent rolls, T-12s and other property-level reports
• Collect vendor information needed to set up accounts payable systems
• Coordinate internal and external meetings for assigned deals and manage the shared file system for them
• Compile and submit meeting minutes, track invoicing and accounts payable, and report trends to senior staff
• Compile monthly construction draws for senior development staff review and travel to properties when asked
• Assist with affordable housing acquisition, rehabilitation and development (Section 8, LIHTC, etc.), including due diligence and financing applications
• Help coordinate community meetings and governmental approvals, and prepare client communications for senior review

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; a Master's in Real Estate Development or similar preferred
• Demonstrated coursework in development, finance, accounting, legal or urban planning
• Interest in real estate development and strong research and writing skills
• Detail-oriented, analytical, able to multi-task and work with limited direction

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills strongly preferred
• Strong project management skills
