About the role

The State of Georgia’s Office of the Solicitor General is seeking a Deputy Solicitor General and an Assistant Solicitor General to lead the state’s most complex appellate litigation. This senior legal position works directly with the Attorney General’s Office, handling cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, Georgia Supreme Court, and the Eleventh Circuit.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and file appellate briefs in federal and state supreme courts.
• Present oral arguments in high‑profile appellate courts.
• Prepare and coordinate multistate amicus briefs.
• Manage and supervise appellate teams across the Department of Law.
• Oversee high‑stakes trial litigation and advise the Attorney General on legal strategy.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree and admission to practice law.
• Extensive experience in constitutional and appellate litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high‑visibility cases.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
