Department Lead

About the role

Rural King Farm and Home Store is hiring a Department Lead to ensure the efficient and effective operation of their assigned department. The role covers merchandising, inventory, price changes, cleanliness and customer service, with no supervisory responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee scanning outs, inventory management, recovery, price changes, planogram sets and department cleanliness, following the indoor merchandising guide.
• Maintain accurate inventory through regular stock counts, scanning outs and reconciling discrepancies, and replenish stock from the stockroom or top stock.
• Manage the recovery process so the department stays neat, organized and visually appealing.
• Coordinate and execute price changes, updating pricing labels and signage with relevant teams.
• Implement playbook features and planogram sets so products follow company guidelines and maximize sales.
• Enforce sanitation and safety protocols and provide customer service using the customer engagement model.
• Support at the front end by processing transactions or loadouts as required, and use office equipment and handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks and ladders.
• Take part in cross-training, training programs, workshops and webinars, and support colleagues internally and externally.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of retail experience with knowledge of a specific department.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills; able to listen actively and respond thoroughly.
• Adaptable, flexible and able to handle ambiguity, with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work a 40-hour week with varied hours, days, nights and weekends.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, use a ladder and pallet jack, and communicate clearly.

Required skills

• Comfortable navigating computer systems and software.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing information.
