Dental Assisting Laboratory Assistant

About the role

The laboratory assistant provides support for the Dental Assisting Program at Ogeechee Technical College. Working under the supervision of a faculty member, the assistant helps students develop lab skills and ensures a safe, compliant learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students in dental assisting laboratory skills.
• Prepare and maintain required documentation and administrative reports.
• Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Assess students' progress toward learning outcomes.
• Request, receive, and maintain supplies and equipment needed for instruction.
• Submit documentation on a timely basis and ensure compliance with institutional, TCSG, and accreditation standards.
• Establish a classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.

Required profile

• Current dental assisting credential required by the state of Georgia.
• Dental Assisting National Board Certified Dental Assistant credential.
• Proficiency in dental materials, four‑handed dentistry, and preventive dentistry.
• Experience with chair‑side assisting across diagnostics, operative and removable prosthodontics, orthodontics, pedodontics, surgical and expanded‑function procedures.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong commitment to student success.
