Dental Assistant 3 – Mobile Dental Practice

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Dental Assistant 3 to support chair‑side dentistry in its Mobile Dental Clinic. Based at the Gracewood Campus in Augusta, you will travel daily to 26 rural counties, delivering essential oral health care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chair‑side assistance during examinations, preventive, restorative and surgical procedures.
• Prepare, transfer and anticipate instruments and materials, maintaining a clear operating field with suction wands, air‑water syringes and cotton rolls.
• Sanitize and sterilize instruments and equipment following infection‑control protocols.
• Support operational readiness of the mobile unit, ensuring compliance with clinical standards.
• Travel to IDD Day Service Centers and community facilities across the region.

Required profile

• Compassionate and skilled dental assistant with experience in a clinical setting.
• Ability to work with individuals who have sensory sensitivities and physical accessibility needs.
• Willingness to travel daily across rural counties.
