Data Scientist III – Insurance & Advanced Analytics (Hybrid)

About the role

MAPFRE is seeking a forward‑thinking analytics leader to design, build and scale advanced predictive models that solve high‑impact insurance business problems. The role blends deep machine‑learning expertise with strong insurance domain knowledge and operates in a hybrid setting (Webster or Boston).

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and deployment of predictive models and machine‑learning solutions for complex business challenges.
• Identify data misalignments, investigate root causes and implement targeted improvements to model performance.
• Apply Python and SQL to explore data, engineer features, automate workflows and validate results.
• Design monitoring processes and tools to ensure model reliability, stability and economic impact.
• Research and prototype generative‑AI and agent‑based workflows, including prompt engineering.
• Collaborate with IT, data‑governance and business teams to scale solutions and improve data quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with 8+ years experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years experience.
• Solid Property & Casualty insurance experience, preferably with claims exposure.
• Proven ability to own end‑to‑end model lifecycles, including production monitoring and MLOps.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, capable of working autonomously on ambiguous challenges.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex analytics into clear business insights for senior stakeholders.
