Cyber Security Analyst – Data Protection & Threat Monitoring

About the role

This contract position (6‑12 months) is based onsite in the I‑45/Beltway/IAH area of Houston. The Cyber Security Analyst will work within the Information Security team to monitor, detect, and respond to threats across endpoint, network, cloud, and identity environments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and analyze telemetry from endpoints, networks, cloud services, and identity platforms.
• Investigate suspicious activity, potential data exfiltration, and unauthorized access events.
• Perform hands‑on incident response, including triage, containment, and remediation.
• Develop, tune, and maintain detection logic, correlation rules, and alert thresholds in SIEM platforms.
• Configure, optimize, and enhance security tools to improve detection and prevention capabilities.
• Conduct threat hunting and proactive analysis to uncover hidden or emerging risks.
• Automate workflows and integrate security tools using scripting.
• Participate in forensic analysis and investigations related to security incidents.
• Collaborate with IT, engineering, and business teams to strengthen security controls.
• Support compliance and audit activities, and document incident response procedures.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity or security operations.
• Proven ability to work directly with security monitoring and response tools.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, on‑site environment.
