About the role
The Customer Service Associate ensures a fast, accurate, and courteous checkout experience, building confidence and loyalty among shoppers. This role manages cash transactions, operates the POS system, and maintains a welcoming environment at the front end of the store.
Key responsibilities
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers, addressing issues promptly and escalating when necessary.
- Stock and organize front‑end products, manage supplies efficiently, and keep checkout lanes tidy.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and other payment methods.
- Coordinate daily cash handling, reconcile registers, and ensure compliance with cash shortage/overage policies.
- Manage self‑checkout lanes, run reports, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Assist in training new cashiers and enforce service standards.
- Follow safety, food‑handling, and regulatory compliance procedures, including product recalls and incident reporting.

- Positive attitude and willingness to address customer concerns within company guidelines.
- Honesty and attention to detail in cash handling and loss prevention.
- Ability to follow safety and regulatory standards consistently.
