Critical Care Transport RN

About the role

The Critical Care Transport RN provides emergency and critical care services during rotor, fixed‑wing, and surface transport, including mobile stroke, under the direction of a nurse practitioner or physician. The role involves triage, deployment of medical management strategies, and documentation of prescribed therapies throughout transport missions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients during transport and document responses to therapies.
• Maintain self, equipment, vehicles, and aircraft in a mission‑ready state and perform post‑mission checks.
• Participate in patient triage and assignment of appropriate transport modes with nurse practitioner oversight.
• Conduct point‑of‑care laboratory testing and maintain testing equipment.
• Engage in ongoing education, self‑directed courses, and public‑relations activities as assigned.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred) with current Ohio RN licensure.
• Minimum three years RN experience in a critical care unit (e.g., ED, ICU, transport).
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; NRP, ITLS, and NIMS certifications within specified timeframes.
• Valid United States passport (required within one year of hire).
• Physical ability to work in confined spaces, varied terrain, and weather conditions, handling 20‑50 lb forces occasionally.
