Critical Care Technician – Emergency Department

About the role

The University of Miami Emergency Department is seeking a full‑time Critical Care Technician to support patient care, equipment management, and medication safety in a fast‑paced emergency setting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and clean all equipment (IV pumps, glucometers, ultrasound machines) using hospital‑approved disinfectants before and after use.
• Collect vital signs, report abnormalities, and transport patients to exam rooms and other areas as needed.
• Assist with simple wound care, specimen collection (stool, urine, sputum), and patient positioning, turning, and ambulation.
• Monitor medication refrigerator temperature, keep logs, and report deviations.
• Complete equipment logs, report broken items, and generate work orders for repairs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in a clinical or emergency setting.
• Current certifications as required by the department (EMT/PMD, BLS‑CPR, ACLS, PALS).

Required skills

• BLS‑CPR certification.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.
• EMT or PMD certification.
