About the role
Join the Georgia Department of Law’s Prosecution Division as a Criminal Investigator focused on gang‑related cases in South Georgia. You will work under general supervision to screen, investigate, and build cases for prosecution, supporting the agency’s mission to protect citizens and uphold the law.
Key responsibilities
- Screen and investigate allegations of criminal wrongdoing, obtain and execute search and arrest warrants, and prepare cases for prosecution.
- Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects, gather intelligence, and collect physical and electronic evidence while maintaining chain‑of‑custody.
- Prepare thorough case reports, present courtroom testimony, and assist prosecutors with pre‑trial activities.
- Maintain professional knowledge of current trends, attend seminars, and coordinate with state and local agencies.
Required profile
- Minimum five (5) years of criminal investigation experience.
- Current P.O.S.T. certification.
- Preferred: degree in criminal justice or related field, gang‑investigation experience, exposure to RICO or Title III investigations, and GGIA or similar certification.
Required skills
- Proficiency with computer software for databases, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Experience conducting social‑media and digital‑evidence investigations.
