Course Reserves and Resource Sharing Specialist

About the role

The Course Reserves and Resource Sharing Specialist administers print and electronic course reserve services, supports inter‑library loan requests, and provides frontline circulation assistance. The role works Monday‑Friday, 10 am‑6 pm, with possible schedule adjustments during breaks and summer.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of print and electronic course reserve services, including adding/removing materials and maintaining the Reserve Collection database.
• Serve as primary contact for instructors, ensuring reserve items comply with copyright fair use or obtaining necessary permissions.
• Perform circulation duties, manage patron accounts, and provide customer service at the desk.
• Assist with processing inter‑library loan requests, including retrieval, scanning, and delivery of materials.
• Train and supervise student assistants supporting reserves and circulation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and at least two years of recent library experience.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and de‑escalate difficult situations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of academic library access, circulation, course reserve, and resource‑sharing practices.
• Familiarity with copyright and fair‑use principles.
• Proficiency with integrated library systems, database applications, and content management systems.
