Counsel, Contracting

About the role

The Counsel – Contracting provides business‑oriented legal support for all U.S. functions of Servier Pharmaceuticals, with a focus on R&D‑related agreements. Reporting to the Senior Counsel – R&D, Contracting & Strategy, the role drafts, negotiates and manages a wide range of contracts while improving contracting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and finalize agreements such as clinical trial agreements, research collaborations, material transfer agreements, SaaS/IT licenses, and vendor contracts.
• Identify legal, compliance, privacy, regulatory and IP risks, advise stakeholders, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Monitor contracting volume, turnaround times and report status to Senior Counsel.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives for contract templates, playbooks, CLM processes and stakeholder training.
• Collaborate with U.S. Legal, Privacy, Ethics, Compliance, Procurement, Finance and Global Legal teams.

Required profile

• JD or LLM from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction (Massachusetts in‑house registration preferred).
• 7+ years of legal experience in biopharma, biotech or life‑sciences, with extensive drafting and negotiating of commercial and R&D agreements.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to manage high‑volume contracting matters independently.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and negotiation of clinical trial, research, SaaS/IT, and vendor agreements.
• Knowledge of compliance topics such as HCP engagement, anti‑kickback statutes and privacy regulations.

• Salary range $228,000 – $275,000 with short‑term and long‑term incentive programs.
