Cost Accountant

About the role

The Cost Accountant joins the US Operations Finance team at Dematic, supporting manufacturing facilities in Grand Rapids, MI and Salt Lake City, UT. Reporting to the Manufacturing Controller, this hybrid‑work position provides financial analysis, cost management and strategic guidance to plant leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage costs, inventory and performance metrics for Dematic’s manufacturing plants.
• Develop financial forecasts, monthly actual‑to‑forecast reviews and support the annual budgeting process.
• Calculate, review and maintain standard costs, including purchase price and production variance analysis.
• Support daily costing processes, annual standard‑cost setting and backlog planning.
• Collaborate with the Plant Manager to drive the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) mindset and communicate daily financial performance.
• Prepare and review daily labor‑metric reports and forecast plant inventory needs.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls, inventory management and cycle counts.
• Participate in bid reviews for new projects and attend project turnover meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2‑5 years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to standard costing and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel up to 5‑10% as needed.

Required skills

• Experience using SAP or another ERP system.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Suite.
