About the role
The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice is hiring a Corrections Leisure Activities Specialist I to work at the IYC Warrenville facility. In this full‑time position you will design, organize and lead recreational programs that support the emotional, physical and social development of incarcerated youth.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and supervise a variety of leisure and recreational activities for youth residents.
- Provide direct instruction and supervision, teaching skills and techniques that promote teamwork, positive behavior and personal growth.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to align activities with individualized treatment goals.
- Monitor participant safety, maintain equipment, and document program outcomes.
Required profile
- Motivated individual with a commitment to youth development and rehabilitation.
- Ability to serve as a mentor, model pro‑social behavior and create a structured, supportive environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with staff and youth.
