Coordination Officer (Team Leader) – Child Protection

About the role

The Department of Peace Operations is seeking a Coordination Officer (Team Leader) to lead the Child Protection Team within the Policy and Best Practices Service. The role supports the development, implementation and evaluation of child‑protection programmes across UN peacekeeping missions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and evaluate child‑protection programmes, monitor progress and initiate corrective actions.
• Plan and facilitate workshops, create action plans and manage change processes.
• Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources to inform policy development.
• Coordinate policy reviews, prepare evaluations, and conduct surveys including design of data‑collection tools.
• Draft background papers, analytical reports, and inputs for publications.
• Provide substantive support for meetings, conferences and outreach activities, including agenda setting and presentation preparation.
• Lead or participate in complex field missions, offering guidance to consultants, government officials and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in child‑protection within peacekeeping or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong ability to design, monitor and evaluate programmes or projects.
• Excellent research, analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Experience organising workshops, trainings and large‑scale outreach events.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with UN agencies, external partners and government officials.
