Program Analyst

About the role

The Program Analyst provides advanced evaluation of programmatic and business operations within the Department of the Interior. This role uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to assess performance, develop metrics, and support decision‑making for senior leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth analysis of program data, identify issues, and formulate recommendations to improve operations and policy outcomes.
• Develop, monitor, and refine performance metrics and measurement systems to track program effectiveness.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, share findings, and support collaborative projects.
• Draft, review, and edit written materials such as memoranda, briefing notes, talking points, and justification proposals for senior decision‑makers.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or national; subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
• Must be registered for Selective Service (males born after 12‑31‑1959).
• Successful completion of E‑Verify employment verification and ability to obtain a government credit card.
• One year of specialized experience at the GS‑11 level, demonstrating program analysis, metric design, and written communication skills.
• Willingness to serve a one‑year probationary period during which performance and public‑interest fit are evaluated.
