Controls Engineer – Automation & PLC Specialist

About the role

Bosch Rexroth is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and deliver complete automation solutions for customer systems. The role combines electrical design, PLC programming, motion control, and field support within a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design complete automation packages including schematics, PLC, motion and programming.
• Generate and manage electrical drawings, cable selections, and conduit layouts for customer systems.
• Program PLCs, HMIs and servo drives, and ensure communication with EtherCAT, Profinet and Ethernet/IP networks.
• Perform motor, drive and overload sizing, safety control calculations, and final acceptance testing.
• Collaborate with sales, engineers and customers to develop BOMs, cost estimates and optimal automation solutions.

Required profile

• BSEE/BSET or associate degree with at least five years of hands‑on electrical and automation experience.
• Proven PLC programming expertise with Allen Bradley, Siemens or Beckhoff platforms.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and perform engineering calculations.
• Experience supervising electrical subcontractors and troubleshooting field issues.

• AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN P8
• Motion control protocols: EtherCAT, Profinet, Ethernet/IP
• Motor, drive and overload sizing, safety control circuits
• Programming languages: C++, Java, Visual Basic, Node‑RED, Python
• Knowledge of NFPA 70, NEC, UL508 standards
