Construction Manager – Design & Construction (North America)

About the role

Amazon's Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Design & Construction team is looking for a Construction Manager to act as the owner’s representative for new builds, retrofits, and expansions across the region. You will oversee the full construction lifecycle, from design review and contractor procurement to construction execution and operational hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Amazon’s primary construction integrator and owner’s representative on all assigned projects.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects from design through completion and hand‑over.
• Review contractor bid packages, budgets, and schedules; identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Track budgets, forecast cash flow, and manage overall project costs.
• Negotiate construction, procurement, and labor contracts with developers and general contractors.
• Audit contractor performance to ensure required skills, resources, and compliance.
• Coordinate permitting and regulatory approvals with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Review construction documents for conformance to Amazon specifications and resolve design or schedule conflicts.
• Coach and guide internal and external project teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Champion Amazon’s safety programs and enforce a safety‑first culture.
• Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders and assess project performance.

Required profile

• Strong technical construction expertise and commercial acumen.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently.
• Disciplined approach to safety, budget, schedule, and contract execution.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% regionally and work from a corporate office.
• Readiness to relocate within reasonable commuting distance of the office; relocation assistance may be provided.
