Construction Codes and IB Consultant

About the role

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs is seeking a Construction Codes and IB Consultant to support the state’s building‑code program. You will work directly with local governments, the construction industry and the public to ensure Georgia’s construction codes are current, clear and effectively applied.

Key responsibilities

• Update and maintain Georgia’s nine mandatory construction codes and four permissive codes, including statewide amendments.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to local governments, contractors and the general public on code interpretation and compliance.
• Maintain and process code amendment submissions from local jurisdictions.
• Staff the State Codes Advisory Committee, the Industrialized Buildings Program, and related subcommittees and task forces.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Georgia State Minimum Standard Codes for construction.
• Understanding of compliance standards and government policy and procedures.
• Ability to develop and assemble technical and administrative data for presentations.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in standard office software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
