Community Manager – Student Living

About the role

This position oversees daily operations of the Wexler student‑living community, managing staff, budgets and resident experience. The Community Manager ensures compliance with company policies, fair‑housing regulations and university guidelines while driving financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage property budgets, set rent rates, collect payments and prepare financial reports.
• Approve vendor invoices, control expenditures and maintain petty‑cash funds.
• Oversee lease administration, resident applications, renewals, inspections, evictions and fee collection.
• Build relationships with university officials, communicate policies and ensure compliance with FERPA, Title IX and ADA regulations.
• Implement marketing and leasing strategies to achieve occupancy and revenue targets.
• Respond to resident inquiries, resolve service issues and supervise maintenance staff.
• Conduct regular property inspections to maintain safety, cleanliness and appearance.
• Recruit, train and evaluate property staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Communications or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in residence life or property management.
• Knowledge of equity, inclusion and higher‑education housing regulations (FERPA, Title IX, ADA).
• Strong problem‑solving, crisis response and conflict‑management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with property‑management software such as Yardi, OneSite and Entrata.
• Experience using enterprise systems like PeopleSoft, THD (The Housing Director) or MaxPanda.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management.
