Commissioning Master Mariner for Autonomous Vessel

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking an experienced Master Mariner to lead the end‑of‑line testing and commissioning of its mid‑size autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. You will be responsible for safe navigation, crew supervision, and coordination of autonomous system trials, working closely with on‑shore teams to achieve mission objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe navigation and operation of the vessel, including during autonomous control.
• Supervise and develop the onboard crew to maintain high performance.
• Collaborate with shoreside personnel to execute commissioning plans and autonomous system tests.
• Plan and conduct vessel missions aimed at refining autonomous operating systems.
• Lead safety and emergency response efforts on board.
• Maintain comprehensive operational logs.
• Coordinate with port authorities, U.S. Coast Guard, pilots, and other stakeholders for approvals and logistics.
• Manage berth assignments, fueling, and dockside logistics in line with mission timelines.

Required profile

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard 500/1600T Master License for self‑propelled vessels on oceans (unlimited Master’s license preferred).
• STCW Basic Training, GMDSS Operator certification, OICNW, and medical qualifications.
• Extensive experience in maritime operations and vessel command.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and leadership abilities.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with USCG, SOLAS, IMO, and class regulations.
