Commissioning Agent – Reno, NV

About the role

The Commissioning Agent will lead commissioning, retro‑commissioning and monitoring‑based commissioning for building projects. The role involves managing projects from concept through construction, interfacing with clients, contractors and facility operators, and delivering documented confirmation that systems meet performance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the commissioning authority and develop comprehensive commissioning plans.
• Review design documents, provide comments, and conduct commissioning meetings.
• Verify installation and functional performance of HVAC, building automation, lighting control, and plumbing systems.
• Develop pre‑functional test procedures, oversee functional testing, and complete testing forms.
• Prepare and submit final commissioning reports and oversee operator training.
• Perform warranty‑phase follow‑up and conduct site visits, including work at heights and confined spaces.

Required profile

• Accredited professional degree in engineering (preferred) and at least 5 years of construction experience.
• Minimum 5 years of commissioning experience on projects of comparable size and complexity.
• Accredited commissioning certification (CxA, CCP or BCxP) required; Professional Engineer licensure preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Required skills

• Proficiency with commissioning software such as Facility Grid and CxAlloy.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and overall Microsoft Office suite expertise.
• Ability to operate electronic tablets for live field data collection.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reporting and client interaction.
