About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Safety is seeking motivated individuals to join its Commercial Vehicle Enforcement team as Cadets. This entry‑level position provides a structured pathway into law‑enforcement focused on commercial motor vehicle safety and hazardous materials transport.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior officers in enforcing state and federal regulations governing commercial vehicles.
• Operate and monitor electronic inspection equipment at designated facilities.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, document findings, and report violations.
• Participate in a 7‑week advanced training academy followed by 12 weeks of field training.
• Maintain professionalism and safety standards while interacting with the public and industry stakeholders.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required law‑enforcement certifications.
• No prior law‑enforcement experience required; high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to public safety.
• Willingness to work statewide assignments and undergo rigorous training.
