Commercial Director Hydrocolloids

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a Commercial Director for its hydrocolloids business in Monroe, NC. The role leads and manages commercial business development projects for Colony Gums and other VAS expansions, driving growth in line with VAS program strategy together with the VAS and Brenntag Nutrition Commercial teams. It requires relocation to Monroe, NC, or the ability to spend 2-3 weeks a month there for the first 6-8 months, and about 50-60% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee business development projects and VAS expansions aligned with strategic objectives.
• Lead technical sales, R&D and lab teams at Colony Gums and collaborate with operations and supply chain teams.
• Understand hydrocolloid functions, blends and end applications, working with supply partners and end users.
• Develop and execute the VAS program growth plan with the VAS and Commercial teams.
• Work with Account Managers, Sales, Market Managers and Technical Development teams to develop the pipeline.
• Build trusted advisor relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Identify and manage risks, and prepare program updates for management.
• Create and manage business plans, market strategies and performance analyses for product lines, and explore cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field.
• More than 5 years of experience in specialty chemicals (distribution), such as distributor or manufacturer.
• Deep product and end-market knowledge of the industry and application.
• Local to North Carolina, or willing to relocate and travel heavily.
