Commercial Counsel (US Enterprise)

About the role

Cognition, an applied AI lab building end‑to‑end software agents, is seeking a Commercial Counsel to lead its US enterprise‑level commercial legal work. You will be at the centre of a fast‑moving legal function, handling high‑volume, complex negotiations for AI SaaS licensing, marketing, and partnership agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate licensing, SaaS, and NDA agreements for enterprise customers.
• Manage a high‑velocity workflow of contract redlining while balancing risk and commercial reward.
• Serve as the liaison between GTM, technical, and operational teams, translating contractual commitments into actionable guidance.
• Engage with external counsel to ensure swift, fair deal closures.
• Develop and maintain contract compliance mechanisms across the organization.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Background in high‑growth technology companies preferred.
• Proven ability to handle inbound and outbound contracts in a fast‑paced environment.
