CNC Swiss Programmer / Machinist

About the role

Tsugami America, part of Morris Group Inc. (one of the largest machine tool distribution networks in North America), is hiring a CNC Swiss Programmer / Machinist in Windsor, CT. As a CNC Applications Engineer, you will meet and exceed customer needs in an industrial environment by running and processing parts on Tsugami machine tools, and supporting turnkey projects, demonstrations and customer training.

Key responsibilities

• Run turnkey projects, demonstrations and other customer-related projects on time and within budget.
• Carry out pre-sale activities: customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessment, part-processing recommendations, cycle-time estimates and turnkey proposals.
• Develop and run custom demonstrations and train customers on the safe setup and operation of CNC lathes, mills, Swiss-style lathes and multi-tasking machines.
• Make accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports and interpret plans and specifications.
• Travel to customers for on-site training and engineering assistance.

Required profile

• Experience in sliding-headstock (Swiss) CNC machine tool engineering and manufacturing.
• In-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and the company's product lines.
• Understanding of CNC lathe processes and tooling applications; knowledge of Fanuc-based controls; 5-axis experience is a plus.
• Able to think quickly, assess situations and make sound decisions, and to work with integrity.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance, work in industrial environments and wear PPE; safety-sensitive duties may require standing, climbing and working in tight spaces.

Required skills

• CAD/CAM software experience preferred but not required.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
