CNC Operator & Composites Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator and Composites Technician to join our Austin team, supporting the production of advanced maritime autonomous platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC mills and routers for fiberglass and foam core components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and CAM files (Fusion 360, Mastercam, NX) to produce parts to specification.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, composites technicians, and systems integrators to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability.
• Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and fixturing strategies for high‑accuracy composite work.
• Maintain CNC equipment and workspaces in a clean, safe condition.
• Perform in‑process quality checks and post‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers and other precision tools.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of CNC workflows, fixture design, and part accuracy.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience as a CNC programmer/operator in a high‑rate boat‑building environment.
• Strong proficiency with CAM software such as Fusion 360, Mastercam or NX.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced startup or R&D setting.
• Attention to detail, self‑motivation and ability to lift up to 50 lb.
• Knowledge of different fiberglass types and designs.
• Preferred: experience with 5‑axis machines and maritime composite manufacturing.
