CNC Field Service Technician (Remote Dispatch)

About the role

HFO Chicago, a division of Morris Group, Inc. and the exclusive distributor of Haas CNC machine tools and rotary products in Northern Illinois and Indiana, is looking for a CNC Field Service Technician. The technician travels to customer sites to install, repair and maintain machine tool equipment and controls, reporting directly to the Service Manager. The role is dispatched daily from home and involves frequent travel and driving across a regional territory.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to install, fix, repair and maintain machine tool equipment and controls (company vehicle and gas provided)
• Use online technical documents, manuals and vendor resources to research machine issues
• Complete and submit accurate documentation on machine status, repairs and installations
• Promote and perform preventative maintenance and provide after-sales technical support and training
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and the company's product lines
• Receive CNC repair and Haas equipment training during onboarding, with factory certification within the first year

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability in mechanical/electrical repair or engineering; CNC repair background a plus
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics
• Excellent technical, communication and presentation skills
• Able to lift 40-50 pounds regularly and work in industrial environments with PPE
• Flexible hours and willingness to travel and drive frequently

Required skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair skills
• Software such as Microsoft Office is a plus; a laptop and smartphone are used
