Clinical Technician – Cardiovascular & Vascular Surgery ICU

About the role

The Clinical Technician provides direct patient care in the Cardiovascular & Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Working a 7:00 am‑7:30 pm shift, the technician supports RN staff with post‑operative patients, including cardiac and thoracic cases.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs, weight, and pulse oximetry; perform point‑of‑care testing.
• Assist patients with personal care, activities of daily living, transfers, and transport.
• Change dressings, apply and remove external monitoring devices, and manage urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the supervising RN.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) within the new‑hire period.
• At least one year of recent, full‑time patient‑care experience (or equivalent military medical experience).
• Ability to perform full‑body motion, lift patients, and stand for extended periods.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pulse oximetry monitoring.
• Point‑of‑care testing.
