Clinical Pharmacist - Emergency Medicine

About the role

This position monitors and evaluates drug therapy for appropriateness, manages pharmacy services in the emergency department, and provides drug information to health‑care personnel. The pharmacist participates in patient care rounds, precepts pharmacy students and residents, and delivers education to staff and other providers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pharmacokinetic consultation and use laboratory data to guide drug selection and dosing.
• Evaluate patient response to therapy, document interventions, and conduct outcome studies.
• Develop pathways, best practices, and guidelines for the assigned patient population.
• Educate and mentor staff, students, residents, and other health‑care professionals.
• Ensure continuity of care across transitions and adapt to staffing shortages or emergencies.

Required profile

• License to practice pharmacy in Louisiana (or eligibility within 4 months of hire).
• Actively working toward a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree, Year 2 residency.
• Clinical experience in a specialty area.

Required skills

• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
