Clinical Engineering Technician II

About the role

The Clinical Engineering Technician II works in the Clinical Engineering Department at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, providing essential support for medical equipment through installation, maintenance, and repair. The role operates on a day shift with on‑call responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide routine and as‑needed clinical engineering services including repair, maintenance, relocation, and installation of medical equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment inventory, service history, and repairs.
• Collaborate with information technology staff to integrate medical devices with hospital information systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree in Biomedical or Electronic Engineering with two years of Clinical Engineering Technician I experience, OR four years of relevant medical equipment maintenance experience, OR High School Diploma/GED with four years of Cleveland Clinic experience (or six years external), OR equivalent specialized or military training, OR Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical/Electronic Engineering or IT.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree, Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET) certification.
• Physical ability to lift 75 lb, climb 8‑ft ladders, work in confined spaces, and possess visual acuity for color‑coding and reading schematics.
