Civil Engineer Trainee - Bureau of Bridges & Structures

About the role

The Civil Engineer Trainee will support the Bureau of Bridges & Structures in the analysis, design, and documentation of simple bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related traffic structures. The role also involves reviewing contractor proposals for shoring, bracing, and temporary structures, as well as assisting with bridge repair plans and load ratings.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and analyze structural, geotechnical, or hydraulic designs using current methods and technology.
• Perform design computations and prepare contract plans for bridges, culverts, and related structures.
• Review and evaluate designs and contractor proposals for completeness, adequacy, and compliance.
• Assist with field investigations, bridge repair plans, load rating calculations, and bridge management activities.

Required profile

• Authorized to work full‑time in the United States.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.
