Child Development Specialist

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full‑time Child Development Specialist to assess, plan, and deliver services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays. The role involves direct work with children, families, educators, and community professionals to support developmental progress in natural environments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct formal and informal developmental assessments using standardized psychological measures.
• Develop individualized plans of care, including Individualized Family Support Plans (IFSP), in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide direct therapy, consultation, and education to children, parents, caregivers, teachers, and community specialists.
• Deliver services in home and community settings, coordinating early‑intervention resources.
• Maintain accurate patient data entry and ensure compliance with licensing regulations and university policies.
• Preserve confidentiality while communicating progress and recommendations to families and relevant departments.

Required profile

• Experience working with infants and toddlers presenting developmental delays.
• Ability to conduct and interpret standardized developmental assessments.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of licensing regulations and confidentiality standards in a healthcare setting.
