Chief Operating Officer

About the role

Blue Forest is seeking a senior operational leader to drive organizational effectiveness and support its mission of accelerating ecological restoration through conservation finance. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, the COO will shape long‑term strategy and ensure operational alignment across the nonprofit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide functional oversight for Human Resources, Information Technology, legal operations, and event logistics (approximately 25% of time).
• Design and maintain internal systems, infrastructure, and operational capacity to support program delivery, investment, and asset‑management activities.
• Align staffing models, organizational design, and resource allocation with strategic objectives.
• Develop governance frameworks, talent‑management practices, and operational discipline to enable scaling while preserving cultural cohesion.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO, CFO, and Chief Program Officer to translate enterprise strategy into measurable performance outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience leading operations in a fast‑growing, mission‑driven organization.
• Strategic decision‑maker with a track record of aligning cross‑functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit finance, conservation finance, or related sectors.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of influencing executive leadership.
