About the role
The Chief of Staff serves as the principal advisor to the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of NASA’s Office of Inspector General (OIG). This senior leader shapes strategic direction, ensures coordination across audit, investigation, legal, and management functions, and drives the overall effectiveness of the OIG mission.
Key responsibilities
- Advise the IG and DIG on organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, enterprise risk management, and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee execution of annual and long‑range work plans, identify emerging risks, and develop recommendations for senior decision‑making.
- Lead enterprise‑wide planning and coordination across the Office of Audits, Investigations, Counsel, and Management.
- Direct the OIG’s communications and engagement strategy with congressional committees, senior NASA leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the OIG in inter‑agency forums, CIGIE, and senior NASA leadership meetings.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting NASA and the Inspector General community, and formulate proactive responses.
- Provide executive leadership for high‑priority initiatives, special projects, and sensitive matters.
- Coordinate development of executive briefings, strategic communications, congressional responses, and reporting products.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in senior advisory or chief‑of‑staff roles within a federal, audit, or investigative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi‑disciplinary teams and large‑scale strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of government oversight, risk management, and legislative processes.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to represent the organization at high‑level external engagements.
