Chief of Cardiology Section (Physician) – Full‑Time Academic

About the role

Ochsner Health System and LSU Health Science Center‑Shreveport are seeking a full‑time Chief of the Section of Cardiology. This academic leader will oversee clinical care, education, and research within the cardiology department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead clinical production and create opportunities across all department sections.
• Maintain the clinical schedule and ensure coverage for all cardiology service areas.
• Review and submit annual financial reports and budget requests.
• Optimize clinic operations through appropriate staffing and resource utilization.
• Develop and monitor goals and business plans for each department section.
• Create, implement, and review quality metrics for faculty.
• Assist in the development of community outreach programs.
• Participate in leadership discussions regarding operations, clinical needs, and service expansion.
• Lead and supervise regularly scheduled educational meetings.
• Maintain office‑hour availability outside of clinical responsibilities.

Required profile

• MD degree and eligibility for medical licensure in Louisiana.
• Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible in Cardiology.
• Demonstrated experience in cardiology with competency in interpreting EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, and performing cardiac catheterization.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, and community partners.
• Clinically active, highly motivated, and able to provide leadership across clinical, educational, and research domains.
