Chief Information Officer (CIO)

About the role

St. Olaf College is seeking a values‑forward, innovative Chief Information Officer to serve as a trusted advisor to the provost, president and senior leadership team. The CIO will guide both enterprise IT and the academic library, shaping how information resources support teaching, learning, research and institutional strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic counsel on information and library resources to advance enrollment, student success and the college’s mission.
• Lead a combined IT and library organization of 55 staff members, with nine direct reports across both domains.
• Develop and execute enterprise IT strategy, including cybersecurity, data governance, emergency preparedness and data protection.
• Integrate information technology and library services with St. Olaf’s 2024‑2030 strategic plan (Solution Seekers).
• Collaborate with the neighboring Carleton College on shared IT and library initiatives.
• Manage division budget, long‑range planning and operational performance.

Required profile

• Demonstrated senior leadership experience in higher‑education IT or library administration.
• Ability to work effectively within a faculty‑governance environment.
• Commitment to the college’s liberal‑arts mission and Lutheran values.
• Proven track record of advancing cybersecurity and data governance initiatives.
