Chief Information Officer for Libraries and IT

About the role

St. Olaf College is seeking a visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead both enterprise IT and the academic library. Reporting to the provost, the CIO will act as a trusted advisor on how information resources support institutional strategy, enrollment, and student success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a unified IT and library strategy aligned with the college’s mission.
• Oversee a team of 55 staff members, including nine direct reports across IT and library functions.
• Advance cybersecurity, data governance, and emergency preparedness to protect institutional data.
• Collaborate with faculty governance bodies to integrate technology into teaching, learning, and research.
• Manage budget, vendor relationships, and technology investments for campus-wide services.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in higher‑education IT or library administration.
• Strong track record of strategic planning, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to navigate a faculty‑governed environment and champion inclusive, values‑forward initiatives.
