Chief Compliance Officer

About the role

River is building a trusted Bitcoin‑focused financial institution and needs a senior leader to design, own, and scale its compliance program as it expands and pursues an OCC national trust charter.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of compliance analysts, setting standards for hiring, development, and operations.
• Serve as River's BSA Officer, managing BSA/AML and sanctions (OFAC) programs end‑to‑end, including policy, monitoring, investigations and reporting.
• Maintain state money‑transmitter licenses, drive OCC charter process, and manage regulator and bank partner relationships.
• Own compliance risk assessments, testing, monitoring, and sign‑off on new products and features.
• Advise the executive team and Board on regulatory strategy and emerging risks.

Required profile

• Deep experience building compliance programs at a regulated financial institution, preferably with BSA Officer experience.
• Proven track record managing regulatory exams, audits, and cultivating regulator/bank relationships.
• Strong people leadership, building and developing analyst teams.
• Strategic, proactive mindset with a client‑first approach to compliance.
