Chemical Loader Internship – Freeport, TX

About the role

Join BASF’s Freeport plant as a Chemical Loader Intern and gain hands‑on experience in material handling, rail switching and equipment troubleshooting. This 12‑month internship provides exposure to loading and unloading raw materials and finished goods across multiple transport modes.

Key responsibilities

• Unload inbound raw materials and load outbound finished goods using trucks, rail, marine vessels, totes and drums.
• Perform rail‑switching activities, including operating a railcar mover, acting as groundman, and serving as crossing guard.
• Troubleshoot equipment before maintenance and communicate any maintenance needs.
• Follow BASF safety and operational procedures while working on shift schedules.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass BASF’s pre‑employment assessment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong work ethic.
