Chaplain (Unpaid Internship)

About the role

The Chaplain internship provides an opportunity to deliver pastoral care within a major academic medical center. As an unpaid intern, you will support patients, families, and staff by offering spiritual guidance and participating in the interdisciplinary health team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide compassionate spiritual support and counseling to patients and families.
• Conduct religious services, rites, and rituals as needed.
• Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and social workers to integrate spiritual care into treatment plans.
• Document pastoral interactions in accordance with hospital policies.
• Participate in educational sessions and community outreach related to spiritual health.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in any field.
• Strong interest in pastoral care and healthcare ministry.
• Ability to work in a diverse, interdisciplinary environment.
• Compliance with the university’s Covid‑19 vaccination policy or an approved exemption.
