Central Sterile Processing Technician (Level 1) – Full Time

About the role

The Central Sterile Processing Technician 1 supports patient care by preparing, sterilizing, and distributing medical equipment and supplies throughout the UHealth Tower. This full‑time position ensures that surgical and ancillary departments have the necessary sterile instruments to operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, stock, and distribute supplies for patient procedures.
• Clean, wrap, sterilize, store, and transport medical equipment and instruments.
• Set up decontamination and assembly workstations following standard operating procedures.
• Assemble minor‑procedure instrumentation for nursing units and ancillary departments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of sterilizer cycles, equipment logs, and supply inventories.
• Perform quality checks, report malfunctioning equipment, and adhere to infection‑control protocols.
• Provide reliable customer service to surgical nursing units and respond to phone order requests.
• Deliver shift reports and ensure patient charges and issued supplies are recorded.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from a vocational program in Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology.
• Current certification such as CRCST, IAHCSM, CSPDT, CBSPD, CST, or NBSTS.
• Experience in surgical or central sterile processing preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer software.
• Ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures and maintain accurate records.
