Caseworker, Assistance for Migrants Program

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to join its Assistance for Migrants Program (AMP) in New York City. You will provide comprehensive, culturally‑responsive case management to asylum seekers and newly arrived migrants, helping them navigate health, housing, legal, and employment services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments and explain program expectations, outcomes, and confidentiality to each client.
• Develop individualized wellness and SMART self‑sufficiency service plans for clients and families.
• Monitor client progress, evaluate goal attainment, and adjust plans to address emerging needs.
• Perform screenings (mental health, trafficking, legal, etc.) and assist clients in accessing healthcare, shelter, and social services.
• Provide strengths‑based, client‑centered, trauma‑informed case management and coordinate referrals with external partners.
• Maintain accurate case records and report to the Asylum Seeker Program Casework Supervisor.

Required profile

• Passionate, solutions‑driven individual with a commitment to humanitarian work.
• Experience or strong interest in serving asylum seekers, refugees, or recent migrants.
• Familiarity with New York City social service systems and resources.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
