Casework Intern (Fall 2026) – Unpaid

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an unpaid Casework Intern for the Fall 2026 term in Richmond, VA. You will support the Casework department in delivering essential services to newly arrived refugees and eligible populations during their initial resettlement period.

Key responsibilities

• Assist caseworkers with client appointments and service coordination.
• Help clients access community resources, public benefits, and healthcare.
• Prepare documentation, case notes, and maintain client files.
• Support cultural orientation sessions and client education activities.
• Coordinate transportation and accompany clients to appointments as needed.
• Track hours and submit monthly timesheets.

Required profile

• Strong interest in humanitarian work and refugee resettlement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to IRC policies.
• Detail‑oriented with good organizational abilities.
