About the role

The University of Arkansas is seeking a Carpenter I to join its Facilities Services team. This entry‑level position supports the construction, maintenance, and repair of campus buildings and infrastructure, ensuring a safe and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform carpentry work including framing, installing, and repairing doors, windows, cabinets, and other structural components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to execute projects accurately.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and maintain equipment in good condition.
• Collaborate with other tradespeople and supervisors to meet project timelines.
• Adhere to university safety policies, building codes, and quality standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant carpentry apprenticeship or on‑the‑job training preferred.
• Ability to work on a university campus and follow established procedures.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, and work with materials typical of carpentry tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
