Campus Safety Monitor

About the role

The Campus Safety Monitor supports a safe and secure learning environment at Southern Regional Technical College. Working 30 hours per week, you will maintain a visible presence on campus, respond to safety concerns, and assist students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds on foot, vehicle, or golf cart across assigned campus areas.
• Monitor buildings for unauthorized access during opening and closing hours.
• Assist with traffic flow, enforce parking regulations, and manage crowd control during events.
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and provide first aid when needed.
• Report suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, and property damage to appropriate personnel.
• Operate surveillance cameras and inspect fire extinguishers.
• Provide escorts and general assistance to students, employees, and visitors.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act and participate in required training.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently while maintaining a professional, courteous demeanor.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to respond to emergencies, including fire alarms, severe weather, lockdowns, and evacuations.
• Commitment to promoting a positive relationship with the campus community.

Required skills

• First aid certification.
• Operation of surveillance camera systems.
• Traffic control and parking enforcement.
• Fire extinguisher inspection.
• Vehicle or golf‑cart operation for campus patrols.
