Campus Custodian – Georgetown University

About the role

The University seeks a dedicated Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across its Hilltop Campus. Working 40 hours per week, you will follow a detailed cleaning plan and respond to emergency situations as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general and specific cleaning tasks covering 28,000‑35,000 sq ft per shift.
• Handle snow and ice removal, water or fire damage cleanup, and special event support.
• Use standard custodial tools, equipment, and supplies while adhering to safety regulations.
• Report to Custodial Supervisors and collaborate with Facilities Management staff.
• Respond to assignments from the Work Management Center, Director of Facilities Management, and other department managers during emergencies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of custodial experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license from Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including emergencies such as snow removal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard custodial tools and equipment.
