Buyer / Senior Buyer – Procurement

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking a Buyer or Senior Buyer to lead complex procurement activities for a wide range of goods and services, with a focus on facilities‑related categories and partnership with small, women‑owned, and minority‑owned businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement of complex materials, supplies, equipment and services while ensuring compliance with the Federal Reserve System’s Model Acquisition Guidelines and Bank acquisition policies.
• Develop purchasing recommendations supported by price, cost, benefit and financial analyses.
• Lead competitive bidding processes, including the creation of RFIs, RFQs and RFPs.
• Serve as liaison to internal departments, providing training on procurement policies and procedures.
• Negotiate with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of broad‑based procurement experience for the Buyer level; minimum 8 years for the Senior Buyer level.
• Demonstrated experience in facilities‑related procurements is strongly preferred.
• Experience in sourcing, contract negotiations, project management and vendor relationship management.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ariba or other e‑sourcing tools.
• Relevant procurement certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS).
